It’s been a while since I bought cosmetics. A combination of things really. Obviously I’ve been working full time in a professional atmosphere and therefore the need for bright blushers, rainbow shadows and false lashes hasn’t been great. Also I’ve been spending most of my pennies on clothing and shoes. After losing such a substantial amount of weight this year a new wardrobe was a must (any excuse).

Now that my wardrobe is looking a lot healthier I’m sure the make-up counters will be getting a bit of my love again. I’m breaking myself back in gently with a touch of online shopping first tho…

I plumped for a Watercolour blush called POP by Daniel Sandler. Basically a rosy pink which they describe as Watermelon. Watermelon is more red to me, non?

I also threw the Watercolour brush in my cart. I believe it was reduced from £20 to £5. Would have been rude not to at that price…

The site I ordered from is Escentual.com. I’ve never purchased from them before but I had no issues here. They delivered quickly, the items were well packed and they even threw in a free nail file (actually useful = win). Only real complaint was the postage of £1.95. I’m used to getting free p&p from similar sites such as Feelunique but that’s just me being a tight arse

So what do I think of the blush?

First off, this will last an absolute age. One teeny tiny drop was all I needed to give myself the rosy glow you see above. The product info does say that this is buildable, but tbh would you really want to add much more than this? If your second job is that of Coco the Clown then perhaps, if not…

The brush applies the colour well but it’s hardly groundbreaking. I’m sure I wouldn’t have purchased it at £20, after all it’s just a synthetic angled brush. However, it is nice to have a dedicated liquid/ cream blush brush. Saves me dirtying a foundation brush or better still my fingers. This would most definitely stain.

Overall I really like the product. I’d count myself as being quite “out of touch” with the make-up world these days (confession: I hadn’t even heard of Daniel Sandler) but I’ll definitely be checking out more from Sandler’s range. The pricepoint I feel is too high at £14.99 (although £5 from each sale of this particular POP blush is donated to Macmillan Cancer Support) but I would treat myself every once in a while.

Anyone tried anything else by Daniel Sandler? Any recommendations for me? xo

Rimmel London have released a new collection of Moisture Renew Lipsticks £5.99, Vinyl Glosses & Blushes £4.99 which is currently on 3 for 2 in Superdrug.

The lippy and gloss seems to revolve around the whole “bronze goddess” vibe thats floating about at the minute. Very summery, sexy and metallic.

The blushes are based around the seasons, ie Spring Flower.
Sorry if I’m being a bit vague but the Rimmel London website isn’t actually updated yet (poor show) and the blushes & lipsticks don’t even appear on it. Tsk tsk.

Spring Flower is a cute baby pink with mauve undertone. Although because its got a three toned gradient you can intensify this or play it down.

Out of the Lipsticks I got Rose Bikini 020 and Beach Babe 050.

I didn’t get any of the Vinyl Glosses as they have a sickly orange scent to them which reminds me of my Dove Gradual Tanner. Not something I want to keep reapplying on my lips! Its a pity really as I am a fan of the vinyl consistency, its not overly sticky.

L-R: Spring Flower, Beach Babe, Rose Bikini

The lipsticks are lovely though, I was so glad to see some shimmer! It’s definitely where my heart lies

Beach Babe

Rose Bikini

They feel soft and moisturising on the lips, but nice and light, after all nobody wants to be wearing a heavy lippy in summer.

I’m think they’d look fab with the co-ordinating Vinyl Gloss over the top but even without they have that high shine and shimmer.

A new purse friendly favourite

xoxox

Party season is upon us and its a rare chance to break out the glitter with a vengeance, plaster on the eyeliner, and generally teeter on the thin line (of taste) between glamourista/ strictly come dancing contestant/ drag queen!

I adore silvers and greys but I think they are really hard to wear, especially with my pale skin. Adding glitter to the mix is a must for me, and also a rosy blush, essential if I am to avoid looking like an ice queen.

Although I’m just wearing lip balm above, if I was wearing this look out on the works Christmas do etc I’d wear a bold red lipstick/ gloss with the obligatory falsies (thats lashes, not boobs).

I know its “apparently” a big no no to accentuate both eyes and lips in one look, but I think thats a very boring 21st century rule that I like to break whenever possible. Certainly there are times when playing one up against the other works better but Christmas is NOT that time.

Pump up the volume and glam it up!!!! xox
