….. and she’s here to tell you to get your butt down to River Island and check out their affordable take on the Aviator jacket!

No it’s not leather, but for £59.99 that’d be slightly ambitious.
It does however really really look like leather and feels buttery soft. I was slightly worried I’d sweat like a hog within minutes due to it’s fakery, but I’m delighted to report that somehow this remains comfortable, even in September. I’ll hazard an early guess though that come December this won’t quite cut the mustard for warmth.
The sheepskin effect collar is removable. I have to admit this initially put me off the jacket. Past experience with a removable collar proved a pain in the ass. It was always slipping off and it never fully complimented the coat, in fact in retrospect it made the coat look a bit cheap and nasty…
However times have moved on and this is nicely tailored. The buttons that attach it are well placed and robust. I also think the shape and design compliments the jacket rather than detracting from it.
As if to further cement my new found love of removable collars (no one is as shocked as me) I discovered make-up on it today. What a relief to know I’ll be able to wash it separately. Practicality ftw!!
What about you? Will you be following this particular trend?

I nearly got this today! Love it!
LOL that does not surprise me! You're a woman of impeccable taste! x
I tried that jacket on at the weekend. It's gorgeous and really has the Burberry-esque thing going on. I had already bought this jumper so felt I needed to restrain myself http://www.riverisland.com/Online/women/knitwear/…
I can totally understand why! Loving that jumper! Next have a gorgeous cream Aran cardy that I'm in love with but it's £70! I mean 70 bloomin quid? I think someone in Next needs to catch a grip! x
Well, not only is that practical, but if this shearling trend wears off next year, you 'll still be able to wear it!
Great buy!
Personally, I 'll be skipping this trend (although from what I saw online River Island has some excellent shearling boots, burberry style), and going for the chunky knits and khaki parkas this winter!
xx
Yes I was just thinking that today!
Loving the winter clothes this year, I'm a massive fan of oversized jumpers and cardigans, and I just LOVE getting all cosied up
Love it, looks so warm!
It is, but not overly so which surprised me. I'm sure with plenty of layering tho it'll hold it's own come the colder weather x
Ahh i tried this on yesterday! it looks great on you, I'm really being won over by the whole shearling/aviator trend. Can't wait till it feels cold enough to pile on all the chunky cardis, we're in a weather induced fashion limbo atm!
Ditto! I'm literally chomping at the bit to unleash my winter wardrobe now. This will be the Winter of hats! I'm planning to get quite the collection
x
Love the jacket…
I also bought me a shearling jacket a while ago… love it!
They're great aren't they! I find it's generally a universally flattering kind of jacket too, there are so many takes on it. Btw LOVING your blog name
Hi Arlene, like the jacket, but I'm sort of looking for a short black (or maybe red or grey) wool jacket for myself for winter. Saw one in Dorothy Perkins, but it had zips that I wasn't mad about. Have you seen anything else at all?
I was actually getting a shop in Tesco last night and the girl was hanging up new coat styles. I was in a bit of a rush but if I'm not mistaken most of them were short wool funnel neck coats. Looked really swish for the money.
If you want to spend a bit more AWear have a cute mini duffel http://www.awear.com/coats+jackets/red-duffle-coa… and this gorgeous wool number http://www.awear.com/new-in/poppy-peplum-jacket/i… Happy coat hunting! xx
I like that second one. Thanks Arlene
Take a look at my new blog not just for the over forties something for all!!
Love the jacket by the way,and enjoy following your blog so much! M
