I went into town today to buy a bra. I came out with….. a Winter coat
Sometimes I surprise even myself…

It’s from the Top of the Shops (Topshop for the slow ones…) and cost 80 smackaroonies. I’d rather have spent less… about 80 pounds less.. but since it wasn’t in the sale and I’m not keen on shoplifting I had to suck it up!

Excuse the crap in store photo, washes the colour out a bit and I appear to be sucking on a lemon… but you get the general gist of what it looks like on. It’s a Wool Duffel and it’s AMAZING!!

You can see the caramel colour better here.

The deep pockets, cuffs and hood have a classic tartan detailing.

Check out the wooden toggle buttons with quirky red and green stitching. The quality and finish is superb.

One of my favourite features is the deep hood. My head ain’t small and a hood normally pulls up to my hairline at most. This can be pulled right down over my eyes if needs be and two top buttons allow the coat to be fastened up over the chin. A perfect hidey hole on a bitter cold morning.

Size wise it’s an odd one. I’d normally be a UK size 14 in a coat, especially a winter one where I’ll be layering jumpers underneath. In this even the size 10 was ok on me, room to spare. I think it’s the intended fit. It’s meant to be a roomy coat. I ended up going for the size 12. Happy medium :)

I really don’t want to take it off yet! However I don’t think it’ll be too long until I’m pulling this coat on out of necessity.
Especially once the NI Brrrrr! sets in.

The only other thing I bought today was this sweet little necklace from River Island for £6.99.

I swear, I've been so naughty recently. I'm back up to 11stone 12lbs. Eeek! High heels and good leg genes hide a multitude! xxx

haha, I've been blessed with good leg genes too, they do hide a multitude haha, even at my heaviest, I've lost 3stone 10.5lbs with weightwatchers now! only 7.5 lbs from goal! are you still running?

Holy crap! You're doing amazingly! How do you feel? :)

I haven't been running, definitely makes a difference. I've tried to get back into it after injury but it's hard work. I need to take it so easy. Instead I've been using Pilates to strengthen my core. Its fab for my back and posture but does nothing weight loss wise. Sods Law!

I feel like me again :) silly as that sounds, feel like I can enjoy life more haha, had my graduation and birthday recently and the ability to just pick a dress I like and not have to fret about whether they do the dress in size 18/20 is freeking amazing! Biggest problem is that I need an entire new wardrobe and have very little money to do it haha. Living in leggings and baggy tops for the minute. I've been using that #getrunning app you mentioned last year in this blog to get back into running properly, yoga and pilates too, just the dvds for the pilates, I have a contraption for the playstation for the yoga, you feel so good after the pilates don't you?

Absolutely, it's a real stress reliever for me. I just use the DVDs too but I might try a class soon. I wouldn't feel like such a weirdo now I know the basics :)

I can totally understand how you feel. People take for granted just fitting into standard shop sizes, and having all the trends available to them. I guess that's why I try to not get too downhearted when my weight fluctuates. Things could be a whole lot worse, I'm an average sized woman.

Entire new wardrobe sounds like fun! If the funds are tight at least you'll be more cautious in making good purchases. I threw out so much shite from Primark this year. I love an aul dress from there, but sometimes I really do just buy tat! xx

Sigh – would love a new coat but I'll have to look into maternity ones.

Mothercare have a nice military style one :D

Arlene, without wanting to sound like a creepy perv here!, you have FAB legs in that pic. You should show them off more. Also I can't believe you're 11 stone 12 cos you certainly don't look like you need to lose weight.

LOL perv ;)

I wish I didn't need to lose weight but I do. I carry it all around my middle since having the kids. Really need to get back on the healthy eating wagon :) xx

That is such a pretty coat-used to wear loads of duffel coats when I was a child. This looks much more stylish than the ones I used to wear. Necklace is very cute too ;-)

Just thought I would let you know (if you don't know already) that Lidl are doing those gel sports insoles for around 3 euro! Must pick myself a pair or too-you recommended them to me ages ago and I find them great

Brilliant!!! Thanks for the tip, I'll be down there tomorrow filling my basket (even though Lidl scares me a bit)…

Yes, I had to wear a Duffel coat as part of my school uniform, everyone hated it but I really loved it! Super cosy xx

I remember you looking adorable in your school duffle. I looked like Paddington, but less chic and to this day I can't wear a duffle coat without reliving the experience of damp wool on a school bus…

But that's a lovely coat. You've actually given me duffle envy. And leg envy!

Whaddup girlfriend!

McLovin the duffel coat, I have a very similiar one that I got a few years back in toppers, it's sky blue and I love it, gets wheeled out every winter and is beyond cosy. Enjoy yours!

Sky blue sounds gorgeous, I think if they had of had it in Navy I'd probably have went for that x

I went to River Island yesterday to get that gorgeous necklace. There are two near me (I'm in Limerick and they're both decent size stores) but couldn't get it :( I'm going to Dublin next week though so hopefully will be able to pick it up there.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now BTW, ((Hugs)) :)

Pants! If you can't find it I'll do a custom purchase for you bird.

Feeling up and down but overall things seem a lot brighter. All hugs appreciated though :D xx

Aw, thanks hun :) Will have a look in Dublin next week and see how I get on.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Have been through some c**p myself this year, so I know that even virtual hugs help :) xx

Lovely! You can buy a bra anytime, finding a good coat is a nightmare.

I actually wore my winter coat to work yesterday because it was absolutely pouring down with rain and I wasn't going to battle with an umbrella. I hate them.

Lol, you're so funny! Isn't that just typical all female – to come out of the shops with so much more and so many other things? ;)

That coat is soooo pretty! I want one too! :)

You look great in it :) xo
