Girly night went ahead as planned on Friday night.

85919230-d51fc916f5f08c63a111f171a9b99803.4bc37c45-scaledLadybolan and I got off to a “reasonably” sensible start with drinks at Karenquinn’s pad… however once we hit Lavery’s Bar and started drinking Buckfast Cocktails (who’s idea WAS that actually… I want to kill them) it all got a bit Riverdance/ Skins.

I think the night ended about 2am… although I can’t be sure… because I have absolutely no recollection of getting into bed.

Belter Night :D

Come Saturday morning I was feeling a little peaky (to say the least), but I’m not one for lying in bed and so I got myself dressed  and took a trip into Belfast with my fave boys. The sunglasses weren’t just a fashion accessory, they were actually medicinal!

I’m wearing:

2 Layered Vests – Dorothy Perkins £5 each
Lace Trim Leggings – Primark £4 ish
Denim Shorts – New Look Sale £10
Studded Gladiator Sandals – Peacocks Past Season
Sunglasses – H&M Past Season
Peach Earrings & Ring – Etsy Liz Hutnick
Watch – As Before

While the boys did boy things = spending a small fortune in Games Workshop, I made myself feel instantly better by falling into MAC and accidentally on purpose buying some cosmetics I didn’t need. Oops…

DSCF6719DSCF6726

I picked up “Dirty” Greasepaint Stick, “Honesty” Eyeshadow and the Prep & Prime Finishing Powder.

Ok, so I might not have actually NEEDED them but I’ve used them all already and I can honestly say they will be staples in my make-up bag PLUS I hadn’t bought anything cosmeticky? in AGES… (justify… justify..)

Dirty GP Stick (sounds wrong lol)

Such a pretty, wearable combo don’t you think? and the Greasepaint sticks are AMAZING, literally don’t budge… well at least this one doesn’t. I did note in store though that all the shades seemed to have different consistencies, some much creamier than others. Part of the reason I picked this one over the others was it’s more solid form.

I’d love to say these few purchases have satisfied my MAC urges for a while, but I’m afraid the opposite might be true. I’m seriously impressed, no regret buys!

…..which makes me think WHAT ELSE am I missing out on? Do tell girls, do tell! ;)

Two things I have to know…what the hell is in a Buckfast Cocktail?

And what's the Prep and Prime powder like? My MSF isn't cutting the mustard right now.

Both outfits are adorable by the way…

Good question… good question. I'll honestly have to ask ladybolan. All I CAN tell you is that it tastes divine, like ice cream soda. Super easy to drink and gets you totally and utterly poggled!

Prep & Prime is ridiculously fabulous. Super finely milled, and doesn't add any colour to my face, just creates this lovely polished veil. I love my translucent powders (ELF Shimmer a fave) but they are rarely truly colourless. This is. I just use it to set everything, over blush and highlighter and its amazing xx

I feel faint just thinking about that! But then I'm feeling wary of Buckfast after making a sorbet with it on the food blog last week…

Arlene you look about 19 in those pictures – seriously jealous. The weight loss really shows!! Im jealous mc snealous.

The buckie cocktail sounds suspiciously tasty but then again its my go to drink for festivals (only drink I can think of that tastes good when warm!). Theres a pub in Dublin that sells bottles of buckfast as a pitcher – you get a jug and a pint glass of it – classy!

19!! You're my new favourite friend :)

can u believe I'd never even tasted Buckfast until Friday night?! Shameful. Can see it becoming a guilty pleasure, espec at £2.50 a pop!

Tan is Zen Tan (darkest lotion) the night before and then a spritz of Almay Bare-It-All Legs in Warm Veil. It's basically a spray body foundation. Covers bruises and veins etc, evens out. Fab cheapy solution and only £1.99 in Gordons. If u can't get it down south mail me your addy and I'll throw u a bottle down to try xx

oh btw what tan are you wearing on your legs or is it tights? need to start thinking bout tanning my tree trunks for the summer!

ams April 12, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Good to hear buckie is becoming fashionable. I remember back in college when only the skankiest boys used to drink it and apparently there were special serial numbers to look out for on the bottle which meant it came from the bottom of the vat and so was stronger!

Will look out for that Almay stuff – sounds very like the Sally Hansen spray? Havent tried Xen tan yet – have been having success with St Tropez and its poor imitation cousin St Moritz on the top half of my body but the legs are a different story. Dont think Ive ever got a tan to go on properly on them – boyfriend usually has to see me with the dip dyed look i.e. brown on top and white on bottom – attractive Im sure!!

Haha I share your problem. Nothing takes that well on my legs hence the top up. I find most of it washes off my legs almost immediately no matter how long I leave it before showering.

C'est la vie as B-witched would once have squealed

Would love to know what u make of Prep & Prime and how u use it. I bought it ages ago but forget to use it. I don't like wearing a powder which is why I bought it. Must give it another whirl. Outfits are fab too. Love these kinda posts, mwah

I love your dress Arlene-its fab! I quite like Mac tender tones lip balms with SPF. They are quite pigmented and really condition your lips. I was looking for a nice pink lipstick for ages-Does the Gosh Barbie have good staying power and pigmentation?

Thank you Aletha :)

We've just moved house and as yet broadbandless *sob*

Can't wait to get that sorted as I am really missing blogging :(

Gosh Barbie – Ridiculously fab pigmentation for a gloss coupled with absolutely shite staying power. Sad but true. It's a reapplication every half hour. Worth it tho, so pretty on and feels lovely on the lips xx
