Over the Knee Boots

Tarty?

Trendy?

Practical?

Discuss :)

I really didn’t think I would be partaking in this particular item of footwear, especially as when I recently tried a heeled pair on in New Look, my eight year son said “but you’re not a rough Mummy, those boots are for rough Mummy’s”.

As I stood back and surveyed my reflection in the mirror I had to agree with him. I looked like I should be stood on a street corner or at least serving in a sex shop. Not good.

I couldn’t help but feel disappointed, I’m one of those people that actually likes to follow fashion, thinking for myself and being “individual” in the clothes area has just never appealed. Don’t get me wrong I love to see other people expressing themselves via their togs but it’s safer and easier for me to just have Look Magazine do it all for me.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I re-visited New Look this week and they had taken delivery of flat Over the Knee Boots, looking more demure altogether.

They were £35, they’re not real leather, but they are lined so you don’t get the sweaty thing going on. The toe is an almond shape which I think is quite flattering on bigger kebs like mine, and they have long leatheresque Gucci style tassles on the sides. I thought these might trip me up when walking as they are floor length but no issues at all, they swish back and forth and make me feel all catwalk.

I don’t think they look cheap, but feel free to disagree. I think this is due to the lack of sexy heel and also the fact that they come just over the knee in a slouchy style, but they’re not “thigh high” which gives a different impression altogether imo. Think Pretty Woman…. to that mind it probably helps that they’re not wipe clean PVC or have concealed pockets for doms……

I think they look fab with this type of casual outfit. Pair them with a boob tube and hotpants and you could be entering dangerous territory!!

OMG! I bought these *exact same boots* on Sunday!Great minds think alike :)

I'm going to have to trim my tassles a bit, though -they wouldn't trip me up, but I do step on them every time I walk, so I think a trim is in order. I love them, though – I tried on lots and lots of flats boots before finally heading to New Look and finding these. I like that they have a little bit of a heel – they felt so much more supportive than most of the other pairs I tried.

@ams lol there is literally no danger of that!! :D

@Amber When I see people now I will have to boast "I have the same boots as Shoeperwoman, Shoeperwoman I tell you!!"

I love them even more now, I feel like I have a certain amount of taste :)

Hooray!

You have entered the dark side…all be it non slutty! You pull it off to a tee!

I have heeled ones, and i have never worn them, they have sat in the back of the 'drobe since I got them – I have fear of being named a "rough" one… I'm waiting for an 80s movies theme, or a pirates party to whap them out. But flats me thinks I need! Off the the Look for a squizz!

not a fan myself, but then again i'm not a tassle fan so they'd never sit well with me!!! but flats are way less prozzy than heeled ones!!! But fashion is about rocking it & feeling comfortable (not physically, mentally of course) so do what you're doing regardless of peoples mainly my opinion of it!! xx

Love them! I think they're fabulous. I think over the knee style looks great with a flat sole personally, i like it best that way. I've been looking for some over the knee boots myself, hopefully I'll find some too!

@Nicola You're so right bird, I think you either love or hate this trend! xx

@ellamarie I've seen flat versions in Primark and TK Maxx as well. The Pri ones were actually lovely but they had none in my size. Worth a look!

@Michelle lol You go girl!!! xxx

am loving this ensemble, also did they have these boots in a wide feet?

I'm currently looking for some nice winter boots that will be versatile for casual wear outfits.

That colour jumper dress is gorgeous xx

@Charles @Shoegal Thanks ladies, it's so easy to fall into the black trap, I'm trying to inject a bit of colour into my outfits :)

I think these just come in the regular width Victoria, might be worth a try on tho as I'm pretty narrow and they are really roomy on me, thick socks a must!! xx

When I was in Italy last year there were a lot of women wearing this type of boot. Hardly anyone here in Canada is wearing them.

I think it's because we're kind of afraid of pirates here.

Oooh good to know, I have this idea that Italian women are very chic! I'll not feel quite so hookerish in them now :)

They were all so gorgeous. Every single one of them. I think that they take them aside in the 8th grade and give them classes on looking physically perfect. I had never been in actual AWE of women before. (But did I ever feel like a dog next to them!)

I still think they look like pirate boots though. My husband, on the other hand, thought they were super sexy.
