I’ve said this before, but I’m going to say it again because I truly believe its helpful.

If you’re about to embark, or are already on a weightloss journey you should remember to document it in photos. I realise that initially that might feel like the last thing you want to do, but please trust me when I say its the most invaluable thing I have done.

Without photographic proof I’d still be arguing with myself that theres not really a noticeable difference in my shape etc. The brain is a powerful thing and let me tell you, on “fat days” I feel I’ve made no progress at all, even though my clothes say I have. So I get the photos out and thats when rationale wins. I can see the difference, there is no disputing it.

I’d recommend taking pictures every 6-8 weeks.

The picture below is me almost 5 months ago at Christmas Time. Just look at my thighs! Yikes! I’m a UK Size 16 here.

*Click on pictures to enlarge (at your peril :) )

This is me last week. 16 weeks after joining Weightwatchers. I’ve dropped 2 dress sizes and I’m a UK Size 12!!!! Weirdly my feet are also smaller by half a size!

I hope I don’t sound like I’m blowing my own trumpet too much, but I guess thats what I am doing to a certain extent. With purpose though, I think its important to take time to stand back, look, and appreciate how far you’ve come. There are times when I’ve just wanted to give up and revert back to my diet of junk food, but when I see the picture above I’m so glad I haven’t. I still realistically have around a stone left to lose, but I’m getting there :)

Not only do I think I look better, I feel better inside. I’ve always been a smiley happy go lucky person but my weight gain did leave me feeling very insecure and unattractive. With each pound off those insecurities have faded away.

If you’re on a weight loss journey I’d love to hear from you, have you taken progress pics along the way? Do you think its helped?

Well done you :)

Can't believe you were a size 16 though.

I've started (again) and am in that lovely encouraging phase where I've lost 6lbs in two days :)

Thanks guys. I think I was quite fortunate that even at a size 16 I carried it quite well. I knew how to dress to hide it, and my upper body remained a bit smaller, it was only when my Size 16 jeans started to get tight that I knew enough was enough.

If you want to lose weight badly enough, you can do it ;) xox

Being a size 16 now i can totally relate to feeling insecure and not as confident as I was when I was a 12. Looking at my you tube vids I notice it even more lately.

I have pics lol, in a few months when I have got the hang of this weightwatchers thing I may post them to let you know how its going.

Ive always lost weight slowly in the past so going to try and kick it up a gear with more exercise.

You look really great! well done. A real inspiration

You've really given me the push to make the effort. I'm now about the weight you were when you started and my goal is 101/2 stone. I've started weight watchers at home and while it is hard I'd determined to get back into all my clothes. Thanks for been honest enough to post all the details of your progress and problems it really helps me to keep focused.

Thanks so much for all your lovely comments, it honestly inspires me to keep going, I'm so glad I decided to blog about my weight loss.

Lizzclare, my loss so far equates to literally 1lb a week which is ok with me, I've heard so many people say that if you lose it slow but steady you'll keep it off, I'm hoping thats true.

Ariane 10 1/2 stone is my goal weight too :D We can get there together!! Do you blog? If so link me up chick and we'll all keep each other going! x

Kerry it is indeed the New Look special, I am loving the fit! Wish I had the navy now too though……

Well done on your loss! I have just finished my second week of my diet and right now im feeling so inspired to continue in a way that i havent before when trying to diet. Ive lost just under 11lbs so far, but i have a lot to lose and you always lose more at the beginning so i am prepared for it to start slowing down. I havent taken pictures but youve convinced me its a worthwhile task. I will be taking some tomorrow! Good luck with your last stone! xx

I'm so glad!!! I think its great that we can all inspire each other. Losing weight can be a lonely affair when everyone else is eating what they like!

You are stunning either way, bigger or smaller.

But I'm glad you've reached the weight you wanted.

You should be very pleased.

Thanks Lauren, that really means a lot. I still have quite a poor body image which I know is crazy but I have to give myself a good kick sometimes and remind myself I'm almost there xoxox
