Update: My good friend Emma, who has a professional background in dentistry has warned me off these American Whitening Gels. Shes a woman that knows, so I’m accepting the advice and binning the set. You can check out her comment below 
Before my wedding last summer I invested in professional teeth whitening at my dentist. As well as wanting nice pearly gnashers for the big day it was also a reward to myself for one year off the cigarettes
I opted for bleaching using trays at home, within 2 weeks my teeth were pure white and I was delighted, minimal sensitivity and no other side effects. I found to maintain that level of whiteness a top up was required every few months.
I used the last of the bleach around Christmas and since then I am conscious they are looking a little yellowy again, however being the tight arse I am, I really begrudge paying fifty odd quid for a refill of bleach. Therefore I’ve started researching cheaper alternatives.
The first one I am trying out is Plus Whitening from America as used by YouTuber kandeejohnson. She swears by it! Results take longer apparently 2 weeks or so if you’re starting from scratch, after that though you only need top up every few weeks. Worth a go eh?!
It arrived this morning, I purchased via Ebay for £13.99 inc p&p from this seller and it took 10 days in total to arrive.
I’ve already used it once, the tray its provided with was a bit loose on me (and I’ve been told manys a time what a big mouth I am), so I actually put the whitening gel into my own teeth trays. The formula seems to foam once in the mouth but it was comfortable enough and didn’t taste terrible. I’ll be using it day and night for a week (to start with) as suggested and I’ll let you know how I get on with it.

No, No No – these are nasty gels and will strip your tooth enamel!! Yes, you should use the trays provided by a dentist as these are an exact mock up of your own teeth and the bleach will stay inside correctly. The home kits where you put inside water are not good, the trays dont fit correctly and if you wear when sleeping most of it gets swallowed..
Also stay away from Pearl drops strips enamel too… What happens is you think wow great teeth white but what actually happens is it makes the teeth more prone to staining, tea, coffee, red wine, spicy foods etc.These bleaches are cheap and nasty..
I know the dentists bleach costs more but it is well researched and wont strip enamel , also if you have the correct stuff and done your inital bleaching one night of a 'top up' will be enough to continue with those pearly whites…
Names to look for and recommended by dentists (none sure if you can buy on internet but i am sure you can)
OPTIDENT Opalesence bleach 10 0r 15%(EXCELLENT) & DISCUS DENTAL (day & Night white)
Sorry to moan on but I have seen too many botch jobs and people who end up with stripped teeth, sensitivity, and teeth that in the long run look more yellow!!
My dentist had me using the Perfecta Rev? Would it be much different than the Optident? x
had my teeth whitened by smilez in Northampton last year and it was 140 then a top up was about 40 completely got rid of all the staining from cigs and coffee. its was a gel and uv light. Would go again if I could afford it
I think this is one of those areas where the dentist is the only way to go! Ah well, will have to save my pennies elsewhere…. re-use my teabags?…
I can't believe your bleach refills cost £50!!! SHOCKED! Mine only cost £10 per bleach refill – stocked up on 3 last time and that will take me a while to get through. Shocking price diff!
I think it could just be my dentist sticking the arm in! They only sell a refill kit rather than single syringes. What make do you use Saskia? x

I am sure they are all the same just different distributors/manufacturers. Maybe try some other dentists in your area .. i know mine just let you go in and buy it. If all else fails i could maybe send you some over for cheaper

Right, I see what they've done. Its actually a business that have done it, a teeth whitening one. Cheeky beggars have cut n pasted your comment and added their own, then simply used your name "Saskia the Salsa Fairy" as you can type in any display name you like. Bit cheeky really. It hasn't compromised your security or email address/ IP address etc, it came from their email with their IP address so rest assured all they borrowed was your name xox
I use Polanight and it really is good! I've tried some of the home kits and have never had any great results but going to the dentist was worth any penny
