I hadn’t intended to ever buy this, having had previous experience of Bobbi Brown’s literary offerings I wasn’t convinced it warranted the £20 price tag.

However as I shopped in Tesco on Wednesday morning I noticed that they were selling it for £13. Seemed like a more acceptable price to me and I reasoned that should I not like it, good ole Ebay would probably get me my money back.

I’m happy to report (and a little surprised) that this book is a keeper. Section 1 is “The Basics”, and it really is everything you need to know whether an amateur or professional WITHOUT insulting your intelligence.

Section 2 is all about the “Artistry” and is honestly an invaluable read if you even have a hint that make-up artistry is something you might like a career in.

There is obviously a lot of self promotion in regards to her Bobbi Brown line, but hell, can hardly fault her for that, after all it is her book! There is a good section on the tools of the trade, great pictures of individual brushes and their use. I have to say I am not a fan of Bobbi’s brushes but there are plenty of dupes out there and these pictures give you are great idea of what shapes/ materials you should be looking for if you want a brush to perform a specific job.

The photographs are indulgent. I can’t show you content due to copyright laws but the picture inside the front cover gives you an idea of the vibrancy, young, fun feel echoed throughout the book. There are some exciting (to me anyway, being a make-up geek) behind the scenes photos to feed the celebrity addiction, and then to the rear of the book there is a lovely section on Beauty Through The Ages, a “Who’s Who In Makeup?” .

This book now has a place beside Kevyn Aucoin’s Face Forward in my collection which is fantabulous on a whole other level! It is catered much more towards the MA though, an awe inspiring collection of skilled creative artistry, illusion and fantasy.

Bobbi’s book is a read for anyone,of any age and any ability.

They chronicled this book in the Sunday Times Style magazine recently.

I have Bobbis mini foundation brush and I would have to say its not great. I just bought it as a spare to leave in the boyfriend's though so not too pushed!

I have only tried her foundation but the concealer is meant to be amazing. Her make up is so pricey though

The only things I ever buy from Bobbi Brown are her Long Wear Gel Eye Liner & the Creamy Concealer (which I have only fallen back in love again with recently). In fact I have a few of the foundations and brushes but they are never used.

I do think her make-up and in particular brushes are overpriced and rarely have much interest in her new collections.

However regardless of the branding this book is honestly worth buying xo

Oh, and the Nude lipgloss, so hard to beat for a wearable pinky nude, perfect bridal colour! xo

Like you I thought Bobbi's other books were just ok so I wasnt expecting much but I love the makeup manual! Although you are right it does promote her products loads (as expected) I was impressed to see that in the pictures of her kit there were other brands in there for the more creative stuff that bobbi's line doesnt really cater for.

That's true, I was amused to see the 88 Palettes lurking inbetween the pages! I totally covet that MUFE Flash Palette, do you know anywhere that stocks it in the UK, I'd had a look on PAM but can't see it….

All in all I really love the book, in fact I plan to go back today and pick one up as a little present for my friend xo

I dont think they have updated the website at PAM because they dont have the new HD products on their either but im pretty sure they have the flash palette.

PAM are the only UK stockist of MUFE so if they dont have it they should be able to order it in ;)

Great! I'll drop them a line, I have a horrible birthday looming and need such delights to ease the pain :)

I think an MUFE spree will definitely do the trick!
