I have relatively clear skin again thanks to a good skin care regime (and no thanks to Boots No7 Protect Range) which I’ll share with you soon. However the dreaded blackhead problem persists… aaaarggghh!

If you haven’t just eaten or you’re not likely to in the next hour then by all means check out the lovely close up of the offending/ offensive blighters below….

It is a really frustrating problem as everywhere else my skin is overly dry but my nose is a rather crooked looking oil making factory. I realise that its not as problematic as acne as it is easily disguised with make-up, however for those days when I want to go slap free I am aware of them and they do make me feel slightly dirty if that makes sense.

I have just started using this…

The main reason for purchase was that it was the only specific blackhead product I could find. My question is, what works for you?
Is there a miracle cure out there??

Thank you in advance :) xox

I use pore clearing nose strips once a week that does it for me. :)

Oooooh I was looking at those but wasn't sure, I'll definitely give them a try now. Any particular brand?

I usually stick to T-zone ones but I've heard good things about Superdrugs own and the Grace ones :)

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant- Only thing that works for me! its a rice based powder you mix with water, very gentle and will clear skin in no time. I use small amount with my skincare regime everyday , great also if you have any patches of sun damage. I had one on my cheek and its really starting to fade now… will def. make skin feel smoother and clearer

Thanks ladies, I'm glad its not just me with this problem! I'm using the clean & clear and got some Boiré nose strips (not sure that these), gonna give that another 14 days and then if there is no noticeable improvement I'll splash the cash on the Dermalogica! xo

What helps with my blackheads is a liquid form of 2%BHA (beta hydroxy acid). It keeps pores clean somehow…and works well. My skin is less congested. I get mine from Paula Begoun's line. I just checked and they do ship internationally if interested.

Hi Paige,

I've actually had to stop using the Clean & Clear after just 6 days, the skin on my nose was raw with it and that was only a damp cotton pad of it once a day. The Paula Begoun line sounds a lot more promising!

I was out yesterday shopping and picked up a Clearasil Blackhead Scrub, although after being on your site it seems to resemble the Neutrogena Scrub that irritates you…. hmmm. I think I'll let my skin recover a bit for a few days! xo

Paige is that the Paula's choice stuff? I ordered that about six mths ago but got the 1% stuff and it is possibly a bit too mild. The shipping on her site is pretty expensive so you need to order a few products to make it worthwhile – and it still works out v. expensive. Think I ended up spending about €80 on 2 products – not sure if it is worth the price! Finding the Dermalogica good so far but my face totally broke out in dry patches a few days ago – I looked like I was sniffing glue but it seems to be improved again.

I have that Clerasil scrub and its pretty ok – wouldnt use it every day though – their stuff seems so "chemically" if you know what I mean!

Hi there,

Sorry for the delayed response…yes, it's Paula's Choice…I get confused:) I've tried a few items from the line but the 2%BHA liquid and 8% AHA gel are the only products I would reccomemnd. I balk at her shipping prices being in the US but that is alot to pay for only two products!

Glad to hear the Dermalogica is working somewhat…I hate dry patches too especially when around my nose. Good luck with the new products. I'll be checking in to see if you've found your holy grail:-) Here's to hoping you do!
