This is a fun tag that is doing the rounds on the make-up community blogs/ youtube channels.
If you could have 4 Eye Shadows forever more, what would they be???

I’m tagging anyone who wants to take part :)
They don’t have to be all MAC shadows, just so happens mine are.

  1. Mylar (perfect neutral highlight colour for me, no high shimmer)
  2. Woodwinked (all time fave lid colour, amazing finish and colour, so warming)
  3. Mulch (favourite brown crease colour, easy to build on, yummy)
  4. Cranberry (gorgeous with browns, outer crease, lower lash line, adore it)
From top left clockwise; Mylar, Cranberry, Mulch, Woodwinked

From top left clockwise; Mylar, Cranberry, Mulch, Woodwinked

I have never depotted my Cranberry as the packaging is just too nice, Woodwinked suffered a depotting accident lol *shudders at the memory*

Come on, what’s your top 4??

My top four have to be:

MAC Carbon (perfect for black eyeliner and blending)

MAC Bold and the Brazen (shimmer coral for all skin shades)

MAC Omega (great for shading, brow definition and contours)

NARS Lola Lola (the perfect golden brown)

But I feel the need to finally purchase the Mac Cranberry now!

Ooooh thats a great four. Bold & Brazen looks fab, I may have to get massively ripped off on Ebay and pick that up :)

Am so feeling totally out of the loop and cheated with the Lola Lola love though, this shadow must just hate my skin type/ tone. It literally looks like I put bronzer of my eyes, plus it creases like nobody's business. Any help appreciated on a base for it, I tried it over UDPP, and painterly. Have kinda given up on it until you mentioned it again. Help me love it! lol

Strange about the Lola Lola…it is my failsafe shadow no matter how tired I look or how fast I do my make up it sits and blends beautifully for me.

My recommendation would have been to try it over Painterly, but I don't know what else to suggest apart from a lighter shade like MAC Vanilla as the base? Might make it less bronze…

I can't get Fuji by Nars to sit well on me though. Always creases and looks worn even when fresh. Weird!

Weird is the word! as I have other NARS shades like Barbuda and as you say they are fail safe.

Mostly I think it just isn't my colour, but I will give the vanilla a go tomorrow.

Mum gets a lot of my decent make-up rejections, it'll be flying her way if its still a no no :)

BTW love the description of Fuji, must check that out in HoF

I love love love NARS make up. I can't go near their counters without drooling…

Fuji is the most beautiful vine green with a slight shimmer. Makes stunning liner, but I can't blend it quite right on me.

I sell my rejections on Ebay and then buy more to play with! It's a compulsion!

Oooooh that sounds devine!

I never thought of selling make-up on Ebay. I sell clothes/ shoes/ home waxing kits (don't ask)…. Seems sensible though. Especially if you're a fickle product junkie like me :)

Whats your must have NARS blushes? I have in order of love; actually scrub that, I've just tried to do that and I love them all equally lol, so in no particular order; Deep Throat, Torrid, Outlaw & Sin

I sell make up when it's going spare, but most of the time I sell vintage and second hand clothes on Ebay. It's an obsession for me…

I also do buy make up and nail colours. OPI polishes are excellent value on Ebay.

Oooh, NARS blushes…love Sin, use Orgasm and Zen all the time and love the retro look of Exhibit A. I am dying to try the cream blushes…and need to see the new Super Orgasm shade!

Have you ever tried their Multiples? Everyone raves and I've never used them in my kit…

Come on Emma, you can do it! Go with your first gut instinct, you start thinking too in depth about it and you'll never decide! x

I've played about with the Copacabana multiple at college and while I like it as a cheek highlight I just don't like the finish on the eyes. Put it this way I'd use one of the actual cream eye shadows before the stick. I like the idea of it though. Portofino is meant to be lovely but they never have it in stock in Belfast.

I've tried Super Orgasm but unfortunately the reviews are pretty much on the money. The glitter is way too chunky, its one Super Mess.

This is a tough one but my four would have to be (in no particular order)

Woodwinked – sooo pretty and makes my eyes pop!

Carbon – Great for lining/smoking out the eye

Satin Taupe – Gorgeous, gorgeous colou and so versatile!

Beauty Marked – Really pretty and has just the right amount of shimmer when applied wet

I really must pick up Satin Taupe, I've swatched it a few times in the store and thought it would be a good colour for me. Its going on the wish list! Woodwinked FTW!! xo

I love Satin Taupe. I agonised about including it in my top 4…it would definitely be in my top 5 though!

A ringing endorsement! :)

I'm wearing Fuji today over Blackground, very sultry. What do you pair it with? x

Oooh, sounds divine! Must play with that…

I often use it as a contour colour with Sumptuous Olive over the lid by MAC or as a liner when I want the lash lengthening effect of black, but something less flat…

Sumptuous Olive I have, will try that out later. I've also had it on since 8am and no creasing whatsoever, so it really is just Lola Lola that hates me. Perhaps I got a dud? lol

I'm taking your advice and Ebaying all the colours I don't use, to buy new play things :)

I shouldn't ask what your Ebay username is, but I might have to annoy my bank manager and see if you have anything I'm after…

I love Sumptuous Olive to emphasis the green-ness of my eyes and play up the red hair and pale skin when I want to look all Irish!

LMAO Make me look Irish Make-up! I'm sure there's a market for that!

Is their no site similar to make-up alley in the UK where you can swap make-up items? I tried registering with them but no-one wants to post internationally :(

I can't find a UK version of Make Up Alley…maybe you've found a niche in the credit crunch market?

People love the Oirish look over here. Not surprising when most women dye their hair blonde and wear 25 layers of fake tan!

Aaaaaah the lovely Oompa-Loompa look, I'm afraid I'll never reach those heights…

You might be on to something there with the niche thing…

I'm trawling my drawers for Ebay stuff, will post a wee list and if anything takes your fancy I'm sure you can come to some agreement :)
