Baby Face from Lush

A solid cleansing bar made from 4 natural plant butters, designed to remove all traces of make-up, including waterproof mascara while leaving your skin moisturised.
Pah! I thought. A novelty soap more like!
I admit that I didn’t want to like it, I thought that at £3.88 it really wouldn’t be as great as friends have said.
I was wrong! I hate to say it as I am not a massive fan of Lush products (bit highly perfumed for me), but this really is a fabulous low cost cleanser/ make-up remover.
The sales assistant explained that I needed to run the bar under warm tap water and apply it over my face, then use either cotton wool or a flannel to remove. The first time I used the cotton wool method and wasn’t convinced, seemed like I used a lot of cotton pads and like it was too much of a lengthy process. This morning and this evening I have used a flannel and its ten times easier. Unbelievably it does also hold its own when removing waterproof mascara. I was slightly concerned about rubbing what looked like a regular soap into my eyes (think stinging) but even though I have quite sensitive skin it causes no redness or irritation.
I also love the smell which isn’t overpowering, a subtle aroma of tangarine oil, narcissus and everlasting flower?. Either way it is not overly fragrant in that horrid sickly sweet way.
As for its moisturising properties, I’d have to give it a thumbs up here too. Following removal my skin is very soft to the touch and in no way tight. I am still using my regular moisturiser after but thats just out of habit rather than neccesity. I am sure you could go without, especially if you have younger skin.
It has made me rethink the whole “Lush” thing and I am going to pick up a few more of their products and see if this is just a fluke
Any recommendations??

Interesting. I had had my initial run of 'Oh Lush is so gorgeous' a right few years back and then largely gone off it as I found I mostly wanted to eat their products as opposed to use them. However in recent despair at trying to get my skin back in order I had stepped inside and made a few purchases namely:
1. A moisturiser called Celestial which is for sensitive skin, have to say I have seen an improvement in my skin and this is rather pleasant to use, nice mix of all things calming and soothing including almond milk, vanilla and dove orchid moisturiser.
2. Snake Oil Scalp Bar. This was purchased for problematic scalps and that would definitely describe mine. It melts into your hands and then you try and get it on your scalp, I say try as anyone with scalp issues knows this can be very difficult unless you are sporting a Sigourney weaver circa Alien 'do'. still though it had a nice smell and I thought it helped calm things down. Same can be said for the scalp shampoo I also purchased but given it was used in conjunction with Dead Sea shampoo I'n mot sure how effective it was.
3. Dreamwash. This is a body wash apparently designed for sensitive skin. Oh dear Lush, this is not a product that will be used again in a rush. It actually looks like putty and the smell while not exactly horrific was definitely unpleasant, it did not foam up very well, which I did expect with a more ' natural' product but I swear to whichever deity you might believe in it barely washed me at all added to the fact it looked like something my da would plaster walls with!!! Not impressed
So thats my recent experience with the Lush, that soap does sound good though so I'll maybe give it a try.
Oh Celestial sounds nice, might go in and give that a wee sniff!
Snake Oil is definitely something I do not need, my scalp manufacturers oil for at least 3 other people as well as myself, horrendous. I have to wash my hair daily, I know people say you shouldn't but I have to otherwise it is slick with grease.. yeuck.
Dreamwash sounds hilarious! It sounds like it made you muckier rather than cleaner!
I think thats definitely the kind of "rough" product that puts me off Lush normally. Not in a month of Sundays do I want to run a bar of plaster over my skin, nor a bar of swamp green with bits of twigs sticking out. Much too rustic for the city girl in me.
I am attracted to trying one of their shampoo bars simply because they claim one bar lasts as long as 3 bottles of regular shampoo and I'm all for saving the pennies. Any experience with these??
Well if the shampoo I mentioned above (not the Snake Oil as it is a massage bar) is anything to go by I reckon they are totally extracting the urine with that three month claim! The shampoo bar I bought about two weeks ago is already done, now in fairness i wash my hair every two/three days so maybe if you do a bit less washing it would last you longer but still cant see it going much beyond six weeks. I d think they tend make a lot of ludicrous claims in general as a company though.
Ok you know that was me above right! Still logged in as the bloke!
Receiving you loud and clear Captain Quinn. Well bollocks to that for a money saving idea then. "ludicrous claims" love it, imagine that on your headstone.. "She was a loving wife and mother who made ludicrous claims" LOL, sorry tangent. Right, yes, Lush, naughty naughty, tell the truth now!
No you are absolutely right about having that on one's headstone! In my funeral speech I hope someone says 'Karen was an amazing woman, a woman of compassion and integrity, a woman who loved a ludicrous claim'.
Seriously though, it drives me up the wall when I realise yet again I've been suckered in by the 'beauty industry' and ridiculous promises that in my logical mind couldn't possibly be true. Doesn't stop me going out and buying even more stuff though!!! Sure what else would I be doing with my money only saving for a lovely house or fantastic holiday!
Lovely houses and fantastic holidays……hmmm…if I stopped buying… and saved…then…. NAH *puts fingers in ears* not listening
More ludicrousy please!!!
