A month ago I reviewed Covergirl’s Waterproof Lashblast, which is a mascara must have in the states.

Apparently Lashblast “maxes-out each and every lash for a blast of lush, volumized lashes.”

I was unimpressed at the time and I have to say that I still think the promises above are mostly hot air. It does not volumise or add length. The gimmicky wand is just that, a gimmick. It adds nothing to performance IMO.

However I can say with complete authority on the matter that the actual “Waterproof” formula of this mascara is unbelievable. I’ve been up and down like a yo-yo this past week and this mascara has been a saviour. It honestly does not budge. You can rub your eyes, wipe your eyes with a tissue, cry like theres no tomorrow, and this mascara aint moving. It doesn’t even flake, which I find every other waterproof mascara I have tried does, so you end up with those annoying scummy little black bits all over your face. Not with this product.

It is relatively easy to remove with my Clarin’s One-Step Cleanser though.

So if you like watersports, hit the gym frequently or mosh a lot at the weekends :) I’d recommend getting your hands on this mascara purely for its waterproof abilities. I don’t think it has been released here yet but you can easily get your hands on it through good ole Ebay for around £5.

The waterproof-ness sounds excellent, sounds like it would be the business on a warm foreign holiday or really hot summers at home (should we ever have one again!). I find my eyes tend to water when its super bright and sunny. Also great for swimming. I dont think I have actually used any Covergirl products since I was in my early teens.

In other news I bought that Clarins cleanser yesterday, such is the power of your recommendations! I'll be interested to see how it performs on a full face of the old make-up. I also received my lovely Liz Earle skincare order today. have you ever used her stuff? I find it very good.

Finally we the blog-readers demand, Dressjunkies Bumper Christmas Beauty Wishlist!!!

Ha, thats really odd you should say that, I was just about to add a Wish List page!

Liz Earle is gorgeous, so luxurious but sadly for me it does not agree. Matts mum bought me a gorg set last Xmas and I didn't have the heart to tell her, so a lucky friend got it. If she repeats her purchase this year I'll send it your way!

QVC sometimes have her sets at fab value too.

I wasn't terribly impressed by LashBlast either until I took a break from it, and then went back to it, and was jaw droppingly amazed at how well this works for me.

I think I figured it out. It's all about layering. Which sounds obvious, but hear me out. I have a hard time layering other mascaras – L'Oreal Telelscopic is a mascara that I adore – it gives great length and definition, but does not layer for me at all. Volume Express is the same thing, as are the whole line of maybelline mascaras. What I have found though, is that LashBlast layers gorgeously, no clumping, no grossness – it keeps the lashes seperated, but thickens and lengthens smoothly and easily without feeling heavy and goopy. The only other mascara that does that for me is DiorShow, it's roughly three times the price.

So… that's my new standard – how well a mascara layers. Add that onto price, non-smudging factors, and how dark it is, and I am a fan. Love my LashBlast.

Thanks for the advice, I will give the layering a go today. I think when it is finally released here that I will pick up the regular version. I think a lot of the times the Waterproof version formulations are so different that they can't possibly give the same results as the original. Clump Free FTW!! :)
