Thats how best to describe this mascara.
The promotional material for Bourjois’ Liner Effect Mascara reads
“The brush has a double action:
Step 1: Use long bristles to stretch the mascara formula from root to tip. Intensely lengthens lashes without clumping.
Step 2: Use short bristles to deposit formula at the base of the lashes, emphasising roots for a liner effect. It will look as though you have used a pencil khol (yes they really did spell it like this on their website) in the inside rim of your lashes, without the hassle!
Ummmm did anyone ACTUALLY test this mascara before marketing it??? Below is a picture of the lovely “liner effect” and this is without me exposing the inside rim of my lashes. The “effect” is very clear. Attractive?
Now take a closer look
I have used this as directed, beyond that I have used it not as directed to see if the magic formula to achieving the liner effect was in fact hidden elsewhere. Its not. The short bristles that promise a kohl line effect inside the upper rim of your eye do nothing other than deposit unsightly stripes of mascara. I have studied the wand and bristles up close and have to conclude, that of course it couldn’t create a solid line as the bristles themselves are spaced apart.
Its a pity really, as the actual mascara formulation is honestly very good, and the shade is a pretty glamourous black but it just doesn’t do what it says it does and more than that, it actually looks terrible.

this looks ropey as get out!! I don't much like the idea of anything that close to my eye and as a contact lenses wearer I think it would more than likely end up on my lens than anywhere else. You seen the new maybelline colossal mascara and what maketh you of this lancome oscillations? High end and well pricey at £28 but intriguing nonetheless!! Thoughts?
I tried Colossal a few weeks back http://dressjunkie.com/2008/11/09/the-long-short-… but have to say that its really not special in any shape or form. Save yourself the money.
Would love to try the Lancome one, looks fab but at £28 it def something I will be asking to test out at the counter first. The reviews I've read so far seem positive though
Ach here so you did do the whole lowdown on that colossal mascara!! I'm a div! Well its clearly not up to much since boots are handing out vouchers to get £2 off at the minute. but you can also but a Bourgois thing with it so I might buy a little treat.
I think I would like a go on the Lancome one to see if it really is as good as people say.
